Title: ABS light on dashboard.
Post by: jones_ga on 25 June 2006, 11:10
Hi, I had my MK3 Golf GTi serviced in March and they told me my pads had about 3k left in them.  About 3k later (last week) the ABS light came on so yesterday I changed the pads. The ABS light is still on though. Do I need to get it reset on VAGCOM or is it likely to be something else?

Thanks
Graham

it's more than likely one or more abs sensors has packed in/got dirty. £35 each and pretty easy to change (sometimes)

Thanks mate.

Just wondered as it was strange that the light came on when the pads needed changing

You dont need to reset the ABS , the light should disappear after a couple of yards .

I had this problem too (1 sensor replaced sorted it). Strangely whenever it happens now, I switch off and restart and the light stays off!

I'll have to try replacing one of the sensor's then I suppose.  It's still lit after 4 / 5 days.

if you can work a multimeter you can check which one it is. not sure what the resistance is meant to be but there are a few threads about it if you search.

If any sensor is faulty you will get an infinity reading on the multimeter set to resistance, or in other words sod all
