Can a person tell me exactly where the brakelight switch is fitted on a Golf Gti?

On early golfs (mk1) they are fitted on the master cylinder, after that they are fitted by the brake pedal.

Which model?, if it's a mk1 there is 2 in the m/cylinder.
The other models have them on the brake pedal, (I think ???).
