Hi,just joined up to the forum and I have a problem with the digial milometer on my mk3 N reg golf. Its not a GTi,but a 1.4 so hopefully someone can still help
The digits for the miles travelled/trip miles dont show their full digits,or show none at all.
I've been told that this unit can only be replaced by a VW main dealer as the milage will need to be reset to the old unit too and its connected to the immobiliser  Or can it be done by someone who can digitally correct the milage on a new lcd unit...
Is this true and how much will I be looking at to get it replaced? I'm not aware of the car having an immobiliser,it doesnt even have central locking? I turn the key and it starts the car, unless the immobiliser is the key type????
Thanks in advance for the help

Hi there
Your clocks are U/S
On the MK3 the Immobiliser is NOT in the clocks, this is only on the Mk4 up.
You can simply fit a used set of clocks and if the miles are wrong just post 'em over and pay for the carriage and I'll do them for free.
Hope this helps
Cheers
Doc
