Title: de-badging
Post by: arnoldlog1 on 17 June 2006, 18:10
can anyone on here help me, i've got a gt tdi 130 i wanna take the "tdi" badge off, is it just a case of ripping it off??? i no in the old days there were holes if u ripped a badge off, but am i right in thinking that they are just stuck on now?

i'd like any tips if you've done it urself (i don't wanna pay sum1(tight i know!!))

also been to gti international 2day, it was my first time, i thought it was gud, lots of nice cars, but i was hoping there would be better deals on wheels and parts etc. eveything seemed 2 be the same price as i can get stuff for on ebay!!

the only one that isnt a straight pull-off is the centre vw badge. there's a recess behind it that needs filling/painting if you want to lose that one.

When i did mine i used boiled water to loosen the glue then dental floss to get it off. You will also need a bit of white spirit for the glue.
At gti international i also found prices very high compared to last year, alloys were more expensive than ebay and £495 for cloth mk4 recaros!!! All in all it was a good day though just annoying they moved it further away from me.
