Title: Black Golf GTI Colour Concept for sale!
Post by: buffalo on 17 June 2006, 16:38
Hey!

I am a bit golf mad, like all of you on here.

I have put my car onto Autotrader for sale....£2495!!  its a black 1996 Mk3 Colour Concept golf 2.0 in fantastic condition. I have done a few things to it, pretty much just small exterior things, but i have spare bits like chrome pedals, VW chrome gear stick etc. I painted the brake calipers racing red and put new rear light clusters on. I also have a debadged front grill. I do have all the orginals bits so they can be changed back if needed.

The mileage is around 92500 miles which is good for its age........

If you want to look at it, (sorry i can't yet get pictures on here) if you look at postcode area BN6 and look under COLOUR CONCEPT you will see it. £2495

Thanks

Jenny

Looks sweet

But personally I'd remove the FOX sticker...might make them think you're a boy-racer and have ragged it even if this is far from the truth... :lipsrsealed:

Honest opinion? It's a little pricey, considering it's been fiddled with... If I were you (and you can disregard this entirely if you like!!) I'd put it back totally standard and see what happens. Keep the price over 3 grand if you like but I bet you'll get more interest without the extras....

I have to agree with Bazza...I'm selling my Beetle atm and with the mods have less chance of selling due to it being not to everyones taste...but I'm not in too much of a rush to sell and am waiting for someone who might want the mods to see it first....if not then I'll take them all off and still sell at the same price.

I've even stated the mods will be removed if they want them to be...but then that's not the car they are test driving...so back to standard it is in a week or so

When I was looking for my car i immediately clicked 'next' if it had any mods - wheels, exhaust, lights - the lot! That way you know you've got something that's not had someone's handiwork on it. Of course, if you mod it from then to make it your own, fair play - but bear in mind people can immediately dislike a car cos they don't like the mods you've made to it. When you sell a car you need to appeal to the widest market and it's gotta be a standard model over a modded one every time... Think about a mk1 - would you rather have a mint original or one with an 80s bodykit added...........

oooooooohh dear. Thanks for all your feedback though, think i may chuck the rear lights, although i mentioned in the advert that i have the originals to put back,  i doubt many will read that far!

If you know anyone who is interested, give me a shout. I haven't done any modifications apart from the front grill and lights, oh and painted the brake calipers so its pretty much an original!

Thanks

Jenny

Same here, probably change the grille back to std as well and lose the photos of the locking door pin etc and take some of the sides of the car from front to rear or rear to front - this will highlight lack of dents etc.  Leather photos are a good idea and push the "its completely std" line.  Thats what I looked for when buying mine ('98R 8v GTi), which has since been stolen by my other half...

I have used, and seen elsewhere, photos of the service history and old MOT's if you have them which helps reinforce the std and looked after line.

Apart form that its a good looking motor, overpricing isn't too bad as you can always drop.  Worst to under price and have the telephone catch fire for weeks after its sold....
