guys my engine is the AGU - October 98 S plate gti 1.8T. i was told by the main dealer when it was in for service that it needs platinum spark plugs at about 50 quid as they are changed only every 48k. however i've spotted ones for about a tenner on line (Bosch) for my car and some say it is only the 180bhp 1.8T engine that requires platinum plugs?
Can someone confirm? Thanks!

ive no idea mate, but from past experience id guess that the stealer is trying a fast one....
most should dress in a mask :lipsrsealed:
keep asking round, cos why would bosch do a set if they dont fit??
good luck matey

My 1.8t had bosch in it supplied by the dealer as they had the VW/Audi stamp on too, I changed em for platinum tho. If you want platinums go to GSF, they are £34

Stay away from the dealers they take the piss and will probably tell you to book it in for diagnostics aswell at £80+/per hour. In the haynes manual you need bosch F7 HPP 222 T try www.vwspares.co.uk as ive always found them pretty good.

£80+/per hour.
Christ, what dealers do you use, Robbing B'stards whoever they are, my local stealer charges half that

Ive just had my spark plugs changed on my Y reg 1.8T gti 150bhp and needed platinum plugs. my fellas brother did them for me but not being at work he bought them Andrew Page for £32. worth getting the platinum ones but get them from somewhere other than ur dealer.
