Hi, i'm looking at upgrading my current front brakes. I have a Mk3 golf 1.8 driver, and i'm looking at putting either G60 front brakes on or Vr6 brakes on. What would i need to carry out either of these conversions? I've read on the gti's the G60 conversion is a straight swap, would the same apply? Thanks for any help.

don't know about the g60 as it's a mk2 but i'd say you'd just need the discs and calpiers for the vr6 conversion ( and pads of course).

mk3 gti/ vr6 are 5 stud wheels , so the way around it is to put mk3 calipers and carriers and use the dics off a mk2 g60 which are 4 stud like your car, by the way i have a full set of calipers and carriers for sale(see parts for sale)

i know that 2ltr ventos have discs and run on the same axle as mk3 1.8's and are 4 stud. just whip the axles off...replace with the vento axles and job done

Thanks for the help, i picked up some vr6 calipers, hubs and discs at GTI international, and i'm now trying to figure a way of fitting them. I'll probably re-drill the hub and disc to accept 4 stub, but the only problem is the VR6 driveshafts are slightly thicker, any suggestions

Been searching high and low about brake conversions...would it be possible to run mk2 16valve hubs, then mount the vr6 carriers and calipers to them? Jus tthat i saw this on e-bay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MK2-GOLF-GTI-VR6-FRONT-BIG-BRAKE-UPGRADE-280MM-VR6_W0QQitemZ4653132974QQcategoryZ9889QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
