Title: Under seat sub
Post by: Mart8V on 10 June 2006, 10:23
Looking for a subtle upgrade to my speakers, and a few of these have caught my eye.  Have a pretty standard JVC head unit with output sockets so should be OK there, but any recommendations on which to go for?

Money and space both an issue at the moment......

Sony used to do an active sub that would fit under the seat. It's never going to rattle your fillings but it could work for you :)

Under seat subs can give a nice boost to a factory system, they're not soundoff loud but you feel the bass more than with standard speakers. So if you just want a bit more oomph low down and don't want a boot full of MDF they're alright. A Bass tube might work well as well.

Pioneer used to do an 80x one too, was ugly but was pretty musical, not tuned to just one frequency... I may do a little bit of googling to see if I can see any more info, cos I'm kinda interested in these....

The old man has a sub in his Primera (03) under the driver's seat that's fooked and needs replacing. Nissan parts dept told him it was a CD changer, not a sub, and promptly called him a numpty for not recognising it. Duh. But it's defo a sub, made by Blaupunkt. Now, I kinda like Blaupunkt as a brand, so I may see if they do an aftermarket jobber..... Watch this thread!

I think Alpine still make these, they're available as options for some vehicles.
