umm, right i have a gearbox on my 16v mk2 which is actually supposed to be on a 1.6 driver, someone has but a limited slip diff in it somehow which is pretty sweet actually but its no good on a gti cause ive just broke the drive shaft as theyre thinner being for a driver so its coming off to be replaced with a gti one, so bye bye slip diff, supposing the box comes off ok how much would ya say a mk2 driver gearbox with LSD would fetch?
-
Sorry dunno about price.
Is it not possible to just use gti drive shafts?
-
doubt you'd get too much for it even with the LSD as to have it transferred into a gti box would still cost muchos! worth a shot though, what are the ratios like in the driver box then? if they're fine i'd use gti drive shafts.
-
probably looking at about £300 to have it transfered over...
-
is that all? thats not as bad as i thought. are you 100% sure its a driver box? can't see why you'd want to put an LSD in a driver box to start with?
-
yeah its a driver box, sorry i got the driveshaft bit wrong, they are gti driveshafts but something to do with where they bolt on isnt as strong, when the guy at VW had to put a new one on for me he had to strip down a gti driveshaft and a driver one so he could make one that fitted... the gears are really long, like 65 in second, 105 in 3rd, but the 5th is rather short, 70 on the moterway is like 3000 revs,
