Where do I start....
Headed down to the beach on Tuesday, once I had been for a stroll I got back and my car wouldn't start. Left it for 15 mins and worked fine, drove about 100 meters then died.
waited about 15 mins and it started, got about 1 mile and died.
Phoned the AA and the guy couldn't find the problem, he plugged his computer into it but his comp couldn't connect (designed to work with cars 2002 onwards).
Towed as far as he could (I only have a crappy aa subscription) and left me to make my way 10 miles stopping and starting.
The car will start and run but after about 5 mins it will just cut out and will not start again for about 15 mins. You can hear some sort of relay making clicking noises under the dash just before it cuts out.
The AA man said it could be a number of things, possibly a relay over heating and cutting out but should take it to VW for them to hump me sideways for £Â£Ã‚£ but they can plug their comp in and tel me the fault.
Has anyone had this kind of problem?

had a similar problem but not as severe. my car wouldn't start after i had stopped it after short journeys, turned out my temp sensor was faulty and the car flooded too much petrol into the engine cos it thought outside air temperature was colder than it actually was, £15 replace and fine ever since. my car never actually cut out when running tho, so your prob sounds diferent to mine, sorry i'm not much help mate.

Did you get that fixed at VW or an independent garage ?
They are going to charge me £25 + vat just to find the fault

got it fixed at independant, they ordered the part from VW and fitted it for next to nothing mate.

Got it fixed, was some sort of faulty sensor that connects to the crank shaft....
Cost me £145
