Post by: richandhazel on 11 December 2003, 15:11
Have posted this once before, but I thought I would post it again as there are a few more people in the forum now......

It is possible to download the aforementioned manual, have a look at the following thread that has developed into 'the Bentley' thread:-

Gambit.

So i download them to one folder. When they are downloaded do I open them or do I just leave them?

Do I burn the 15 files to the disk or just the 1st one? ???

What verison of IE u using Gambit ??

For got sake this is drivin me nuts !!! Can anyone with this working post up what OS and version of IE you are using - cheers peps !!
Title: Re:Mk2 Golf/Jetta GTI Bentley workshop manual
Post by: Gambit on 12 December 2003, 11:13
you need to unzip the 15 files and put them all into one folder, once this is complete, you run the SCZ(?) exe in the folder, this then extracts them to another folder. you then run the setup in this folder to install on your pc

there is no need to burn it to a CD, if you burn it to disk it will need the disk to run

I've just realised mine's not working anymore >:( used to work OK ???
Tried reinstalling it and it comes up with a hardlock error ??? ???

When I try and open it I get exactly the same problem as Gambit and Diluxe.

I've recently installed service pack 1 (XP) do you think that might have caused the problem?

Whilst I'm at it does anyone know how I can enable my browser to download more then 2 files at a time? If I try and download 3, it waits until one of the first 2 have finished........I'm on broadband so there is no reason why I shouldn't be able to have multiple downloads going.

Doing something else at the moment, will come back to that in a little while.
I'll let you know if it works.

Any idea what this 'hardlock' error is? I remember some issue with that when I installed ETKA 6.02 last week..........just wondering if it could be that that has caused the problem. Might have to try going back to a restore point prior to that installation.

I'll have another go at it in half hour or so..........

I downloaded ETKA Full version 6.1.exe or sumthing?

Is there a special way of installing it off edonkey like the bentley?

Post by: richandhazel on 13 December 2003, 12:58
I dowloaded ETKA 6.02. It download as an ISO file,I used winace to extract it. You install the ETKA and then run hardlock.exe

Hope that helps.

ETKA is the VW/AUDI etc etc parts cd that your local vw/audi dealer uses for parts/part numbers.

I want as it has the diagrams of how the car/parts are put together. ;D

So were's all you peeps dowloading from,i never heard of edonkey?

eMule can be downloaded from various sites but I used this one

http://www.emule-project.net/

If you're familiar with Kazaa, then you should be OK with eMule, if you've not used p2p file sharing before there's a good FAQ on the above site!

Ive just downloaded it. large file!

Still trying to install it as i got an error about my screen resolution.
Anyone know how to overcome this? Ive changed the screen resolution etc wil no effect?
Title: Re:Mk2 Golf/Jetta GTI Bentley workshop manual
Post by: richandhazel on 15 December 2003, 14:54
I had that problem on my laptop. Thats running at a resolution of 1024 x 768
Didn't have the problem with my desktop which is running at 1280 x 1024

Doesn't it flash up with a message giving you the minimum resolution required to run it?
Title: Re:Mk2 Golf/Jetta GTI Bentley workshop manual
Post by: Blue MK2 on 15 December 2003, 15:51
yeah it does but then i adjusted the reolution and it still gives me that error.

Do i unpack the ETKA first then the hardlock program after?

I did that but after the hardlock program finished it came to a setup program and vanished :-\
Title: Re:Mk2 Golf/Jetta GTI Bentley workshop manual
Post by: richandhazel on 15 December 2003, 15:59
I unpacked the whole lot into one folder, installed the ETKA and then ran the hardlock.exe program. You might need to uninstall and then re-install with the correct resolution :-\

Rich sorry to bother you.
Got one more problem. Opened the hardlock after the etka installation and etka gives me an error ''hardlock not found'' any ideas?
Title: Re:Mk2 Golf/Jetta GTI Bentley workshop manual
Post by: richandhazel on 16 December 2003, 04:57
Yeah, I'm sure I had that too. Can't remember how I got round that. I'll have another look at my installation........got a feeling I just persevered and got there in the end, but I'll check in case I've missed something.
Title: Re:Mk2 Golf/Jetta GTI Bentley workshop manual
Post by: richandhazel on 16 December 2003, 13:51
Just checked a readme file that I created when I installed the software and, fortunately, I wrote down how I overcame that problem.

When you install the ETKA a directory will be created called: 'et_prog'
When you extract your 'hardlock.exe', it needs to be extracted into that directory.

Hope that helps/makes sense.
Title: Re:Mk2 Golf/Jetta GTI Bentley workshop manual
Post by: Blue MK2 on 16 December 2003, 14:13
cheers for that. I looked in et prog and its in there for sure.
I also re installed hardlock to that file and still no luck? ::)
