Title: steering problems help please

hey ....its raining heaps here in sydney,,..anyway, driving my Mk2 gti  round went to turn and it felt like the steering was fighting the turn, tried turning lock to lock when parked and it was the same

 could it be power steering fluid? ?  any help appreciated thanks

possibly your PAS belt is slipping, replace the belt then invest in a PAS belt splash guard, part #s can be found in the ETKA part # section :)

i can sorta hear a squealing like a motor or pump......any pics of where the belt is or the pump

Yup get your belt replaced.  The PAS pump/belt is bolted to the front of the engine at the bottom on the driver side.  Find the alternator and follow the belt round, the other belt is for the PAS pump :)  I'd do the alt belt at the same time since you have to take the PAS pump off to do it.

I'm not sure how you do the PAS belt though since I have a MK3 setup on mine which is completly different!

Its the belt! Dead easy to replace or even just tension it some more if you can.
