Title: How long does it take you to...
Post by: Devon Joe on 03 June 2006, 18:14
....Put that small but kinda important clutch plate back into your clutch...after reassembling car?

Last night i took the 'box out of my mk2 and replaced the crankshaft seal. This involved taking the gearbox out and flywheel/pressure plate off to reach it. This done i put it all back together at about 1145pm in pitch darkness and totally forgot the little plate the clutch pin pushes against. Until i kicked it across yard as i was putting tools away with engine running.

This morning at 9am i had the spanners out and by 1pm the car was running again AND had gears..

Having now ragged the car today I found the slipping clutch (thought it was oil from the crankseal) is still slipping. This means the 'box is coming back out AGAIN once i get a new pressure plate (its got too hot and cooked the springs?) and i might be able to knock even more time off...may try it over lunchtime at work

Ah well, saves paying a mechanic to do it i spose!

My post in Projects (Mk2 Scrapyard) may be amusing in a 'blimey how did he feck that up??' type way
