right , about 3 weeks back i posted a topic on my annoying rattle , well after replacing loadsa bits i didnt need to i still have it !
exhaust heat shield removed
new strut top mounts
new rear engine mount (was knackered)
checked everything visible
jacked the car up and tugged about on the wheels - nothing
my last two suspisions is my front nearside strut (general area of noise)
i ordered lowering springs and new front shocks last week , when i drove the 40 mile round trip home i realised that the twits at eurocarparts had given me rear shocks ! on removal of the struts they looked fine , so i decided to leave em on ( would a shock make a tinny metal rattle if knackered)???
the other thing i came across was the countersunk screw hold the disc central was knackered , it was tight but not all the way in , so i gave it some hammer and screwdriver treatment
the only thing ive just noticed that kinda pinpoints it is that it doesnt rattle when the brakes are on ie if im slowing down ?
can any1 help pleeeease , this has took my last 2 weekends , my knuckles , my money and now my patients
cheers

go over a bump and hold the breaks. if the noise goes away then its just your pad retainer clips. minor
if not then check your anti roll bar bushes and engine mounts
mine need doing. same problem

its not the engine mounts cos ive done them today , i dont think its the pads cos the noise is too loud and metally , not sure about the arb , dont think it is cos its rubber mounted , im hearing a lose metal noise ?

mr blue ur a life saver , just been out to my car , it is the pads , i can wiggle the pad around , they were replaced recently by the previous owner , has he left them out ? can i buy them or do they only come with a new set of pads ? cheers

isnt there a litle metal thingy that slots onto the pad somewhere that stops it from moving around? i may be wrong as i have onl changed them once about year ago but im sure there was something like that on there.......

yeah its just a small retaining clip , i think il av to buy a set of pads to get 1 tho , i dont think u can buy em
