Title: What the ** is this part called..??

Any1 have an idea what this is..?? I thought it was a mass air meter but VW say my Mk3 96 'P' 16v Anniversary wasnt fitted with one..??

I got one of those on my 16v

But sorry dont know what it is!

Hang on I think thats what the K&N people called it in the instuctions I had with the kit

Well according to Haynes it's an 'Evaporative emission system purge valve' *shrugs*

thanks guys, i'll have to do some reasearch to see if a faulty one can affect the 'breathing' and cause spluttering and coughing  :huh:

Is that to do with the carbon cannister? which holds fuel vapour to prevent it getting out in the atmosphere, then feeds it back through the engine once up to temperature.
