Title: engine / gearbox mount help

1991 golf driver mk2 1.6 carb ( gearbox/engine mount rear right )
 has any1 changed 1 before ? mines knackered , pickin 1 up this weekend or monday , im too stingy to buy a haynes , it doesnt look too hard , just wana know about takin the weight off the mount in the correct way etc .
any help would be helpfull  :smiley:

Hiya,

Have not done mine yet, but it is fairly easy. You really just need to take the weight of the engine up a notch. You're meant to use an engine hoist, otherwise there's a chance the sump could crack. But I don't think this is a real risk and you should be fine with a trolley jack, there should be just enough clearance to get it out. With the g/box mount you can disconect the linkage bracket and jack here up, you should be able to get it out. Good luck! :)
