IIRC as long as you pay from the beginning of the month you'll be taxed anyway... If you get stopped up to 14 days into the month they'll give you a producer and you have to get it done from the beginning of the month.....  :smiley:

Post by: TanK_VW on 01 June 2006, 09:50
you dont need it for some reason... from what i remember you just put few details like car reg, the mot number and then your bank details.. nice and easy, just how i like it. :smiley:

all you need to tax it online is your license renewal reminder (V10 ?) form. As long as your mot centre is up to date... DVLA already know if your car is insured and has a valid MOT. I tax mine this way because I can never remember which "safe place" i kept my docs in. :undecided:

Mine failed it's test on Tuesday... excess play in nsf ball joint, excess play in nsr wheel bearing, both rear axle bushes and emissions  :sad:

Sorted it Tuesday night/Wednesday morning and flew through the re-test  :cool:  What an experience changing them back axle bushes is... "likely to become displaced" it said on the failure sheet!!! NO CHANCE! we were very aggressive with a very big tapping stick before they let loose.  Took full axle off so just put it in the vice to push new bushes into place.  Rear wheel bearing just needed nipping up and I gave her a mini-service with oil and air/oil filter change and adjusted air/fuel for the emissions.  :smiley:

16 year old car and failed on v.minimal things really... gotta love dubs.

count urselves lucky, my valver has to have a VIC check first, when ever that may be! and then an MOT!!
Title: Re: MOT today
Post by: [han] on 01 June 2006, 18:36
mine had a VIC check done last year! nay bother!

test fails -

001 offside reg plate lamp not workin
002 ns front brake hose bulging under pressure
003 ns front drive shaft coupling is insecure,

advisory -

04 rear exhaust system has minor leak of exhaust gs (there is more than the rear one??)
005 near wheel besring slight play

apart from that she's good to emission, now she's been runnin a year after been stood for 2, emissions are down,
CO - <=3.500 mine was 1.68  :smiley:
HC - <=01200 mine was 00405

woooot for my driver!!!

Also taxed her today too, £175 lighter!!!

Jumping in bit late here, but mine went in for it's MOT a couple of weeks ago and I was also papping myself seeing as it's an old car an all. Passed without needing anything done to it - I was well pleased. I guess the guy I bought it off in Oct must have really taken care of it.

Of course it's now got a wonky bumper so them positive vibes I sent the MOT tester must have backfired on me eventually...
