Cant find this on GSF, is it known as anything else...??
-
eh? what are you doing?
the heat shield is part of the CAT.. you dont wanna buy a new cat to stop the rattle surely?
do like i said in the other post.. wack a big jubilee clip on, or just yank it off (as len has suggested i beleive)..
-
Yep yank it off! No use to anybody!
-
Mines completely missing, surely it must be there for a reason..???
-
Mine rattles - it's either getting removed or getting a beating, depends on what I feel like when I get under there!
-
The heat shield under the CAT was supposed to prevent grass fires! Well thats the only use I can think of!!!!
Oh mine was parked on grass last Saturday at The Royal Bath & West Show! Nothing caught fire!
Dom mate just take it off!
-
yeah i cant see mine anymore even though i was told it was strapped with a jubilee..
apparently 2 of the 3 screws had vanished
-
ah right, is it underneath the cat? not between the cat and the floorpan?
-
Yep under.
-
yeah underneath.. it'll be the dangly rattley bit that errm dangles and rattles..
-
Maybe thats what its for
-
to rattle when you're driving to aggressively?
-
Mine rattled at 3000 revs so I dont call that driving excessively!!!!!
The other one has now come down to 2200 revs! Gonna see how low it gets, perhaps it will drop off by itself!
(Downpipe heatshield)

my car hates me... hell it even tried to kill me when checking (ok, not the car, the stupid soft pavement)
Don't even have the cat shield attached. So it's something else rattling. Ah I thought, always rattles on idle once it's warm. Popped to the supermarket and back, reversed onto drive and sure enough it started rattling. Ah ha! Got out of the car, popped head underneath to listen, it stopped. Got back in car, it started. Got out, it stopped. Bugger.
