Early 87 I think. Are you trying to work out whether this car you are going to see is KJet or Digi?

My 87E 8v is a digi. Registered 1st August 87 I think.

Whenever I phone GSF etc and they ask what year and I say 87 they always tell me it's a Kjet and I have to tell them they are wrong!

Hope that helps,

Nick

They did, on the mk3.

its not digifant on mark 3's. Its EFI but not digifant like a Mark 2. I would hope it is a bit more advanced than that.

Mk3 gti 16v engine code ABF is fitted with either Digifant 3.0 or 3.2

if ya say so

so how easy/hard would an engine conversion be to put it in a mark 2 8v digi?

if its a post 90 mk2 (hazard on steering column) its dead easy as all the engine loom will plug straight into the fusebox.  If its an early one then splicing is required!

audi100Quattro is correct, the MK3 16v uses digifant managment.  Its an upgrade from the MK2 2.0 digi system, which includes 2 knock sensors, a lambda sensor and a crank sensor, amongst other things.  Also it has no MAF or MAP sensors.

Similar but not identical, somewhere in between I think. They have a MAF like the MK2 system, but early 2e engines dont have a crank position sensor.  The later (ADY?) blocks have a crank position sensor, and a different dizzy & hall sensor (The early 2e dizzies can be used with the MK2 digi fuel injection system if you fit the bottom end, but the later dizzy will not work). Both have a lambda probe as well.
