Title: Ipod adapter but not with an ipod
Post by: Sporran on 29 May 2006, 20:30
hello

I got the Sony NW-A3000 and i know VW cater for ipod peeps.  But is there any way to link non ipods to the stereo.  Is there an aux input on the stereo or one on the changer, im have the 6cd thing that i can use?  Didnt want to pull things apart unless i have to.

I know the ipod charges while driving but im not fussed at that im getting nearly the acclaimed 40 hrs on me A3000 :D

Any advice or pics would be useful.

a headunit wth CD changer facility, you can buy cables that will play and or charge via that input, but you can't run the changer and teh cable at the same time! starting from £30+

You could go for an RF Modulator.

You plug it into your mp3 and power then tune to a certain frequency on your set and bobs your uncle!

Quality not as good but good if you know what I mean...

try this....

the walkman is the Sony NW-A3000 and the unit is the bog standard one that comes in the MK5 :)

That modulator thing looks pretty kool though

have a look at www.connects2.com - they do ipod solutions such as:
1) auxiliary adapter
2) propoer connects so you contorl through radio etc (will also charge ipod)
3) fm connection - actually wired so you tune to a freq but dont get any interference

The very simple idea is get a radio transmitter, you plud it in the fag lighter, plug it in your MP3 and tune it to a blank staion on your radio.

Theyre about 5 quid..

itunes is now capable of doing "gapless", if you rip and CD you can merge the data into one long track without gaps.

cheers all, tbh would want to keep the changer, i could buy an ipod but they dont do gapless :( and i listen to lots of trance type stuff.  Reason i bought the sony.  Gues ill just have to dirve with headphones on :D
