Title: 1.6 driver

im about to put a 8v gti head on my 1.6 driver , my question is , is the carb on the 1.8 driver the same ? or could it be a slight upgrade ? or not worth bothering with ? at the minute its running poor when cold , and about 20 mpg !
just done a few subtle mods , pics to follow soon

they are the same carb except the 1.8 one is jetted (set up) diffrently, your best puttig the head on and finding a decent carb that works and getting it set up at a garage, u can also upgrade your carb to a weber which u can get for about 80quid on ebay

is there any other carbs out there that would be better than my standard 1 ? i can machine a baseplate at work as long as its simular shape/size , id like to try the breakers first b4 shelling out for one on ebay etc

just been lookin at bike carbs on ebay , ive read up on these conversions . has anybody here tried it on a golf ? do i need to plumb in the vacuum pipes etc ? any advice would be great , really tempted ! :evil:

i had 6 different carbs on my driver including a weber and the best carb i ever had was the pierburg, its the two stage thing it does, kicks ass when it works right
