For some years I've had cars that are interesting and rare enough that their drivers wave to one another on the road. I had an MX5 when there were only 6000 in the UK, I've recently had a Mini Cooper S, my wife had a New Beetle in its early days and now has a Beetle Cabrio - and all these cars seemed to generate waves and smiles from their drivers. I know it's silly but I like this.
Given how rare the Mk5 GTi still is on the roads, I assumed it would be the same but in the 3 weeks since I took delivery of mine no-one has waved to me or responded to my waves.
Have I really joined such an unfriendly community?

I'll wave when I get mine.
You sure your waving with your whole hand and not a selection of fingers?

Hi there Alan,
I will most definatly wave, once I pick up my car.
I do love that notion of being able to be part of a big extended family.

I wave and all the Gti drivers seem to be pretty friendly........ Even my local mk2 man gives a decent wave....... nice

ILMAO ps your wheels look nice

I wave / flash my headlights - but only to Mk1, Mk2 and Mk5's... the odd very exceptional Mk3 or Mk4 may get a response from me, but very unlikely
