Title: GTi failed MOT

Bugger - Nearside rear brake pipe corroded and rear brake pad less than 1.5mm thick !!!!

So decided to do it myself after being quoted £280 from garage. Is it big job? need get it done by next Tuesday (MOT retest)

So tip and advise will be handy

my tip is try a different garage. £280! :shocked:
rear pads shouldn't cost more than £80 max including parts , a brake pipe, dunno but not £200.

i think you need a special tool to wind the piston back in on the rears.

Got all the part for £15 from local spare part place (Pads only £15, they gave me the pipe for free). Used the pointed plier to wind the piston back in.

Very satisfactory job knowing that I've saved lots of £Â£Ã‚£Ã‚£Ã‚£Ã‚£.
