Title: Forgetting to lock GTI
Post by: geeteeaye on 26 May 2006, 16:58
I was wondering - if you forget to lock the car when you go into the house, or if you sit on your keys when in the house and unlock the car by mistake (!) will it auto-lock after a set period of time?

Cheers

It should so, My mercedes only unlocks on my appearing near the car and auto locks if I walk away and forget to lock.  Or If I unlock by accident.

It will pnly autolock if the last thing you did was unlock it. If you just get out of the car and go into the house, it won't autolock as there is a risk of lokcing you out of it. If you unlock the car but don't touch it, it will lock automatically after 30 seconds.

Cheers - I take it there is no way of getting the car to lock automatically then if you simply forget to lock it when you get home? Even if the dealer could change the setting?

Would be nice as I never leave my keys in the car so theres no way I could get locked out anyway...and means if I ever forget to lock the car then it wouldn't be a problem...
