Hi
Anyone recomend a place for tyres. Basically hoping to buy online and take them to a kwik fit ? or somewhere like that to have them fitted. Hoping to save some money doing it like this. Not sure if a place like kwik fit do that but am sure theres somewhere that will. Last time I went to a kwik fit they quote me £75 for one tyre and fitting. They said they only had that particular brand left think it was a firestone. So basically want to find a reasonable place online to take them in for fitting.
car is a 2001 1.6 golf.
Any tyre recomendation is welcomed. Currently has 2 continentals and 2 dunlops. which are all on the way out, so I dont fancy waiting till the last minute.
cheers

i always get mine from http://www.mytyres.co.uk/
Then get the saturday lads at the local ATS to fit+balance for a fiver per wheel. Fitting cost usually depends on how well you know them and if you're willing to pay cash.

I either use them or my mate who's a mobile tyre fitter (depending on who's cheaper). Where are you based?
My tyres are doing Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3's for £63.90 each (205 55 16) - Quality tyre, grip extremely well in both the wet & the dry.
My favourites ATM, Bridgestone Potenza RE720's are a little more at £71.20 each. Very impressed with these so far.

While on the subject would any one recommend the toyo proxes T1-R's over the eagle f1's?

I just recived a couple of fronts (18") ordered from mytyres.... excellent delivery times and a good choice.
i plumped for Fulda's... not a bad tyre imho..
gotta get them fitted now thats all
ive heard bridgestones and avons are meant to be pretty good too

Not a bad tyre, that, grip wise, (or the T1-S, come to think of it). They're a very soft compound, though, so will wear out quite quickly. The fronts will be lucky to do 8k. For a few extra £'s a corner, I'd plump for the F1's over the Toyo's.

I used black circles last time, Falken FK452's, 225/40/18 - £75 fitted

I know somebody who runs those Falkens - He rates them a lot.

Yeah I had 2 sets on mine during my ownership and I was pleased with em

hi
Ivor : I'm in sw london.
Been reading quite a few tyre reviews this evening. I've read some good things about dunlop and firestone. Dont have the specific name to hand though got it jotted somewhere amongst my mess of papers  mytyres seems very reasonable on cost. Only concern is using a place like kwik fit to put them on as I've had an awful experience of them. Might try somewhere like ATS or a local tyre fitter.
Cheers

As Topher says, Sat morning lads will probably do it on the side for a bit of cash-in-hand, with no managers there, etc.
ps Go for the RE720's!!! :smug:
