Title: Volume of speed warning
Post by: Alan C on 24 May 2006, 16:49
Hi,

Does anyone use the speed warning gadget on the Mk5 GTi?   Until I took delivery of mine a couple of weeks ago, I wasn't aware it had a speed warning feature but having discovered it I'd like to use it to help me avoid exceeding the limit by licence-threatening amounts.

When you do exceed the set speed, there is a very muted ding-dong and the display says "Speed Exceeded".  Unfortunately, the audible alarm is so quiet that it's very hard to notice at the best of times and if the radio or CD is playing, there's no chance.

My dealer doesn't know of any way to increase the volume of this warning.   Is he right?  If so, it's a potentially useful feature that just doesn't work in practice.

Thanks for any thoughts on this,

Alan
