Title: Hello from another new boy
Post by: Alan C on 23 May 2006, 21:45
Hi all - just a quick intro from me...

Just took delivery of a Mark 5 GTi 5 door - faily standard spec, Tornado Red,  Monza II wheels, CD changer, having been driving a Mini Cooper S for the last three years.  First impressions are VERY positive - although driven hard the Mini is comparably fast, in real driving the GTi feels far more lively.  It's  all the torque that makes the difference.  Lovely responsive and precise handling - although no better than the Mini - is a joy to use too.  And it's well equipped and quiet and refined.

It's actually my fourth GTi - I had a black Mark 1 (1800),  then two Mark 2s (both 8v models).  Then the GTi got boring (I hope that isn't heresy round here) so I went off and did the open top thing with two MX5s, then the Cooper S, before returning to my current GTi.

No doubt I'll learn as much from these forums as I did from mini2.com - I look forward to it and to getting to know some of the other contributors here.

Thanks

Alan

I have a couple of friends who were members on mini2.com, they even dragged me too a couple of meets / shows, quite good fun too but they failed to convert me tho....
