Title: Rear Window

Hello all
Golf Driver H reg 1.6   vs.   Golf GTI F reg
is it possible to remove the rear window from the GTI and fit it on the golf driver rear panel ?

The objective, as you might have guessed, is to end up with a rear spoiler :)

And before you suggest it, the GTI rear panel is knackered!

yes, although the glass will prob crack if not done carefully.

I'm not gonna do it, will take it to a mechanic. It is gonna cost me, but considering that I got the panel free, it's not all bad!

its piss easy. search for the windscreen guides and do that but on yourr rear window. cut round the seal and pull it off then u will be able to get the glass out whole. then just kick your driver one out (break it) nd re use the seal off that to save buying a new one. they are push fit not bonded in so its not hard to do.   you have to push a piece of rope round the edge of the seal so u can push the lip over the boot. cant explain very well cos its late and i cant be arsed to type sorry dude will type more 2moro or something. where are you in the country cos i gotta do a windscreen when its next sunny and dry and your welcome to come down n i will show you

The always come out in once piece without having to cut the seal I find, its only the windscreen that a b!tch and cracks.

Just make sure you use the right groove in the seal :rolleyes: :D

maybe i was a bit heavy handed or had a weak window then but mine cracked width ways across it. would have been handy if i had a roof chooped golf but i didnt so it was annoying lol

Removed 4 screens & fitted 2 with no problems :)  I've heard they can get weakened if you use the demister excessivly, inluding horror stories of them just shattering randomly!

this was on an a reg 1.3c that had stood for a year so it could have been weakend etc also i suppose if the aperture for it is ever so slightly out of shape it would put stress on the glass and cause crackage
