just washed and polished me motor and i have spotted some tin worm coming through just under the bottom passenger corner of the windscreen just by the rubber seal! i think this is quite common but is it a big job to have done? what sort of price do you guys reckon?

I had the same problem on the Polo. The main thing was to stop it getting any worse ASAP. I cleaned what I could back with a small fibre stick and scalpal, getting as far under the rubber seal as I could, then used a 'rust eater/converter' and reprotected. Once that had set I squeezed a small amount of silicone sealant in there to prevent any further ingress of moisture and 'touch wood' it hasn't come back. You only even notice it if you know its there, but the main thing was to nip it in the bud before it gets a hold.

Yep you want to sort is asap and hope it's not rotting through from underneath. If you're quick and you don't already have water leaking in to fuse box you should be ok!

i have had a good look round and i can see it on the inside of the car too, it must go right through! i am guessing this could be very bad! :undecided:

If you can, ideal would be remove windscreen and take a look. Really depends if rust has got inside scuttle or not I guess?
Maybe able to patch up. If it's not too bad maybe you can lift the seal a bit to clean, paint etc?

If it is only surface rust you might be able to pull the rubber back and pour thin waxoyl under the seal. I have done this on Mk2s and it has held rust at bay.

...need to remove the rust first though!
