Title: my Mk1 Gti Has a problem
Post by: first timer on 08 December 2003, 20:49
Hi,

I have recently become the proud owner of a Mk1 GTI on an 83 plate.

Its a wicked car apart from one small problem.............

The indicator led on the dashboard glows a little bit; and when I use the indicator stalk the LED goes bright but nothing happens. The hazards work ok and so does the parking lights, I have dried the fuse board out (incase it was damp) and changed the relay and the stalk and also changed all the fuses but still it no working. If any one can help I would be eternally grateful.

 ??? ???

have you inspected the back of the clock for damaged circuits?

Check the back pf the instrument pod for electrical damage, it sounds like the earth to the indicator LED has gone. you may have to repair the earth on the printed circuit board on the back.

Thank you.

I will give it a go.

Its been more useful logging on to speak to you people than a whole week going to garages.

Try another hazzard switch, def sounds like a switch fault.
