Has clarkson done a review on mk1s and 2's?
Love to know what he said ::)

Cant remember what he said about it at the minute!

I think i read somewhere ages ago that Clarkson reckons the mk2 is the nuts :)

I remember Jeremy Clarkson doing a show about hot hatches maybe 4 years ago & he said how the mk1 wasn't the 1st "hot hatch" (apparently there was a sporty chevette) but the mk1 kick started the genre 8)
Then he went on to compare the XR3 with the Golf, which according to him were pretty equal until the "demonstrably better" 205 GTi was released. His analogy was the Golf being a crappy old Hoover with the material bag & the 205 being a Dyson ::)
He didn't really mention the mk2, but later on in the program he did state that all the 80/90's hot hatches were great, even including the MG maestro turbo :o
I remember it well, it was a good show!

Well if you can afford the tourareg than i suppose you can afford the petrol to feed that beast. I read a write up a while back. brings down something in the neighborhood of 14 mpg. wow! I'll never complain of 30 again. :)
-
I would like a VW Phaeton with a W12 engine, 2 VR6 engines stuck together :D
-
That would be fun. Gotta be a beast. :)
-
thats basicaly similar to the sky blue mk3 twin engined golf then?
-
Clip of that tuned up Touareg is superb. Its presence on the road will be awesome. Would get one if I could afford it.
Anyway did anyone see this bloke who proudly said to Jeremy that he’s spent ?20k on his Citroen Saxo?
-
yeah i saw seen that! was nuts
-
yeah flexing and wynding :)

f$ck all that felxin and windin shate!!, how sad??? if i was clarkson after the cameras had finished rollin id have had a go at bangin the lights out on all of em!!!!! sorry but gettin a bunch of jumped up spotty 16/17 years old to ask them about cars is a right let down (am i showin me age??) how much do ya spend on your saxo?? 'er stands me at 23k and still more to do' well sorry matey R32 and spend the more to do on insurance!!!!!,
any way sorry about that little rant there, but yes years ago when old 'quinten' used to be on top gear they did a used guide on mk2 golfs, that was when they did the experiment about mileage, i seem to remember they had a g/h 16v with big bumps, low mileage (30k) and then and older 1 about e/f with 88k they did a standing start on a 1/2 mile i reckon, older more mileage one kicked ass, just to prove the engines were more 'run in' as time went on and that buying a high mileage example wasnt a bad thing!! sorry to bore you just remember the show as i had just got a mk2 8v/h reg at the time and was thinkin 'bummer i should have got one of those' lol ;D ;D ;D

Don't apologise for your little rant. We're all passionate about our hobbies and things that make us happy. But all in all we apply some common sense to our actions. I don't think this chap had one. He or his parents maybe wealthy but money can't buy brain power.
High mileage golfs.....had one a few months ago. Commuting to work down the Motorway on a daily basis for 4 years without any major problems. Just routine maintenance. Fab. cars they're.
