HI all, I'm new on here. Just got my golf gt tdi today so hopefully I'm now one of you boys
This is the first VW i have owned after wanting one for the last few years and finally got it.
My initial question is i would like to know what it is (engine wise)
The bloke who i bought it off said it is an early " PD " or something, whatever that means.
Also he said that he thinks it is a 130 bhp, but not sure absolutely.
He has asked some bloke who works at vw mechanic and he thinks it is an early one. And a few others have said the same who had 130's etc
But however when he insured it he said it shows up as a 115
I have ran a few quotes and i got 3 quotes, one said 110, one 115 and one 130!!!
I can understand this as i once bought a 2.5 v6 mondeo from a main dealer and 2 insurance company's showed it as a 2.0 mondeo, which was totally wrong, so i know following the insurers example is not the most accurate
I know about the different coloured letter stuff as a general rule, but is not always accurate. If it was then this would be a 130.
Is there any possible way to find out for certain, other than rolling road
please help
kris

gttdi with red di =130, tdi red=150 otherwise run a hpi report or contact main dealer with the chasis number it should be on record... either way get it chipped!
-
sticker in the boot should tell you the kW output of the engine :nerd:
or as suggested above go to your local stealer and get them to run the chassis number
-
Sticker in the boot is by far the easiest, or if you know anyone with VAG-COM
-
The sticker in the boot will say '81' if its a 110bhp model, '85' if its a 115bhp model, '96' if its a 130 model - 4th line down on the sticker. It should have a 6 speed gear box as well if its a PD engine (either 115 or 130).

thanks or the replies, looked at the sticker it does say 85kw
so guess i got a 115 , got some work to do!!!

Any recommendations for chipping? I have heard that some of the options available out there can be detrimental to the car :undecided:

I got APR remap in mine with no complaints and I know a few boys with a revo which is good too

So....
If the di is red on TDI its a 130... and if the TDI is all read its a 150?? what if it says GTI in the boot and its a turbo diesel... or is this just people that have re-badged their cars?

in a perfect world yes they do but in this world badges mean diddly squat mate.
best way is the sticker in the boot
96KW is the 130
110KW is the 150
hope that helps
