Title: Strange temperature readings??

The last couple of days I have been getting strange things going on on my dash, the temperature light will start flashing and the temperature gauge will swing from cold to hot then settle back into a medium position, I don't think that there is an overheat problem as it will do this from starting the car, and would appear to be completely random, my car is a Mk2 '90 spec 8v GTI.

Anyone have any ideas?........ :undecided:

check any earths on the head and the rocker to the coil mate, i think i am right in assuming one is loose somehwere around there.  :smiley:
