couple of things i need a bit of help with please lads ...
(1991 golf 2 driver 1.6)
whats the engine specs ? looks like single point inj ? any easy bolt on upgrades ?
tiny (solid ) brakes , can i upgrade to 16v with no problems ?
does the corrado front end bolt straight on ?
anybody got any big bumpers for sale ?
also have an annoying rattle front end , thought it was the grill , but ruled it out , any ideas ?

tiny (solid ) brakes , can i upgrade to 16v with no problems ? you will need to change the carriers, calipers, and tbh there isn't any point.
does the corrado front end bolt straight on ? No, and it won't do apart from a major front end rebuild, and would still look naff. [/b]
anybody got any big bumpers for sale ? check the for sale section

surely 16v brakes will b better than the tiny things on it now ? i just got rid of my mk3 1L polo and by the looks of it they had the same brakes ?
is the heat shield a common problem , couldnt actually see 1 , will check tmora tho

It's only 72 bhp mate, the brakes are fitted to the car that will stop and surpass the requirement to stop per engine size and car. Hence the 139bhp 16v having 256 vented discs. There is no point in upgrading unless you are going to run a lot of power and require the stopping power.
Anyone on here with a driver will no doubt tell you the same. :smiley:

when i used to have a driver and rag the sh!t out of it i found the brakes were pretty good in comparison with the power it had stopped pretty well.
Slick what does IIRC mean?
as slick said they are 72 bhp, or 75PS depending on what way u look at it! :nerd:

Yeah but they still need an injection point of some sort, and i thought they were single point, not multi. :undecided:

cant you fit vented disks off an 8v gti or are they all vented at the fronts?
I did this on my mk2 polo coupe  :smug:

they have like a little jet on the top of the carb, the fuel is not injected but just sort of trickles out.
they used to do digijet which was single point injection but they are really rare and i dnt even think the were sold in the UK, but i am not sure.
the front discs on a driver are solid and not vented but vented front gti brakes would fit, its only from 16v and upwards, g60's etc that you need to change the caliper carriers etc.

Thats what i thought, hence why i put single point, but wasn't decided.

cheers lads , i get ur point about the brakes , just that i may be getting a gti for spares n if ive got em i may as well put em on , i wouldnt go spendin on brakes at this stage unless i obviously got them cheap .
as for plans , wasnt sure wether to stay with small bumpers ? with chrome inserts ( where can i get them from ) , or big bumpers ?
alreedy has 8x 17" s , nice dish , i know u lads rnt keen but i was gona go for jetta lights , not sure just yet , around 60mm drop , btw any body know the law on removin door handles ( mot )

looks very tidy mate, well seein as though you are getting a GTI for spares then you might aswell swap them over. You could take all the suspension off to as it will be better than driver suspension depending on the condition.
As for the small bumpers with chrome inserts i am not sure where to get them from to be honest, try either www.gsfcarparts.com or www.eurocarparts.com (they could be .co.uk if them links dont work)
Jetta lights means you have to change the front panel to a jetta one which is fairly straight forward to do.
Door handle wise, i am not sure, i think it depends on the leniency of each mot tester, technically the boot counts as a door so if you can get in through the boot then it should pass, as they see it being de-handle as having no way of opening the doors i think.
