If is is HIGH it fills the whole area in the middle of the rev counter and speedo - see photo.

If its LOW it is split into 2 sections - top section is warning lights - lower is fuel comupter etc.

Quick newbie question can you use the high line computer? I have only ordered the standard paddle shift wheel that comes with the DSG gearbox.  So can I use the computer or is it wasted?  I am getting it by ordering sat nav.  Thanks in advance.

YES you can use the highline computer & BONUS  your wheel will be multi function as it is standard with the DSG on the GTi / R32 now!

If your car is not a GTi or R32 then your controls will be on the end of the wiper stalk!

Hi Doc,

Sorry to question you again.  I just wanted clarification, so the GTi you are saying comes standard with multifuncation steering wheel?  Cos in gthe broucher I cant find that, also on line it wont allow you to add a multifunction wheel to car.  But VW taxfree reckon I can pay for one.  I just wnated to make sure.  I have ordered a standrad Uk spec apart from my extras.

Cheers Doc.

I think the GTi with DSG has mid-line set-up as standard.  The multi function high-line wheel was an additional option when i ordered my GTi but was standard on the R32 ordered with DSG.

I only wanted paddles and once I saw that as standard fit on the DSG equipped GTi I cancelled the high-line order...

hope this helps

Cheers Matt,

I was under the impression that paddle shift comes standard with DSG, which is what I wanted and knew.  Thanks for agreeing.  The sat nav come with a highline computer, so no need to order one.

I did not order the multifunction wheel, as with the phone prep I can simply accept or end calls.  On my Merc command system I can make calls and dial numbers.  Also on my current cars, I can skip tracks, forward, rewind etc.  I was given the impression by the vw dealer, I test drove the car that this was not possable.

Can some one clarify this please.

Nope the spec changed for 2006 so you should get the MF wheel with the DGS - I'm off to the dealers in the morning so I'll check it then.

The highline MFD is standard with the Sat nav.

With the MF wheel you can change track, volume, mute the radio and access the extra menus on the MFD easy!

hope this helps but I will double check the MF bit for you!

Hi Doc.

Just noticed on the top picture your car has a compass type thing.

That only for the R32's??.

I like the blue needles as well.

Reply above LOL - I just assumed the only difference spec wise was the xenon's

The compass and a few other bits are only for the MF wheel equiped cars

Maybe if VW explained there options a little better more people would buy them!

Cheers, for that Doc,

I was told by the vw dealer that you could not change the tracks etc with the multifunction steering wheel hence I did not order it.  I am going to have to ring them up and add it on.  Will annoy them as I will have to send another order form to them.  oh well, why do vw not break down what each extra is and does?

I have changed specs about 4 times because of differnt info, given and recieved.

But thanks doc.

Just to clarify though another point you might be able to help me with if you have the sat nav head unit and 6 disc changer in armrest.  Also how relaible is the sat nav?  And does it warn you off traffic on the route like my mercedes?

Can both play cd/rws? Or can the head unit play a dvd muisc cd?
Also can either play an mp3 disc?

If not I am going to order the phat upgrade whenI get the car.

Hi there

You asked......

Just to clarify though another point you might be able to help me with if you have the sat nav head unit and 6 disc changer in armrest.  Also how relaible is the sat nav?  And does it warn you off traffic on the route like my mercedes?

VERY RELIABLE AND YES IT HAS TMC TRAFFIC REPORTS

Can both play cd/rws?

YES

Or can the head unit play a dvd muisc cd?

NO

Also can either play an mp3 disc?

NO

If not I am going to order the phat upgrade whenI get the car.

You cant have PHAT and CD changer plugged in but you can bin your cd and plug the PHAT in as they both use the same port on the rear for the Sat-nav

Hope this helps
