-
probably about ?2000
try www.elephant.co.uk they where the cheapest
also www.tescocarinsurance.co.uk
-
Depends how old you are mate?
-
Do search through the forum...........there have been a large number of previous posts that should help.
-
i am 18 nearly 19
-
im 18 and pay just over ?2k fully comp with all mods.
Cheap thing to do is pay about ?1200 for 6 months on a crap runnaround fully comp. This will give you a 1 years bonus on some insurers.
-
i got a run around at the mo but i just had to stop the insurance because the car is dead n it was to slow
-
If you kept the insurance on your runnaround you could have put the Gti on your parents name for about under ?500.
Then drove the GTi ;D
Thats if your were fully comp and your insurer let you drive other vehicles.
-
i use admiral with both of mine bob on service!! but then ive got a clean license, full protected no claims oh yeah and i married and an old git! or so ive been told 29!!! lol ;D
-
i got my mk3 16v insured with tescos, me and the missus fully comp costs me ?420, but yet again we both have full no claims, are nearly as old as kniterider :P /good thing is i found with tescos on my other car (an italian one) she is insured as main driver and got 5 years no claims in one year! something to do with me having full no claims and having both cars insured with them, maybe worth looking into that ???
-
5 years in one year! I know how to get 2 years in one year....
6months fully comp insurance = 1 years no claims
now do that twice and you have 2 years no claims in one year.
but 5! 8)
-
insurrance all over the place, all competeing with each other!!! go with the cheapest quote id say!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
I know it sounds a bit weird but its true mate, cos its a 2nd car, not sure of the ins and outs of it, but it wound me up that she got 5 years no claims in a year when it took me 5 years !!!!!!!!!!!!
-
let's be real... 18 years old.. zero no claims.. license held less than 6 months.... insurance on a gti is gonna cost you more than the car mate.
-
When i passed my test back in 94, I bought an A reg Austin Metro, cost me ?400, and that cost me ?450 tptf to insure, so to insure a GTI at 18 nowadays, well i shudder to think!!!
-
dont think!! just do it!!, when i was a 'boy racer' i had xr3is and astra gte's would always pay more money to have the proper thing and payu more oninsurance!! my mates all had metros or fiestas know what id rather have!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
yeah i know wot u mean kniterider, but me metro was kitted out as a mg metro, even tho it only had a 1.0 litre engine in it, oh and it had a turbo badge lol, seriously tho, as u said ya gotta start somewhere, so i thinks personally its best getting your own insurance rather than in parents name as u save in the long run!
-
my 1st car was a mini with a LAMM turbo bodykit :-[ .. until it had an argument with the rear end of an Audi A6... total cost of car - ?900 ..... insurance... ?950.. that was in '98
-
never had insurance in parents name, allways in my own to this day, i started with a 2.0s capri, then and 86 xr31, then ann 86 atsra gte and went from there to rs turbos etc, never had no prob insuring, as had a good job, would rarther roll round in the real thing for ?100 PER MONTH than some done up wanna be wreck for ?70 per month!! cos that was about the difference !!!! ;D ;D ;D
-
yeah i know, was just saying you save in long run having it in ya own name from the start, as you build up your no claims quicker
-
hehe yeah i learned my lesson after that and bought an RS turbo fiesta.... "luckily" i'd just started working full time and could JUST about afford the ?130 a month insurance
-
yeah but what a pose compared to what your mates were drivin!!!! lol ;D
-
my fezzie turb' looked like a bentley compared to their micras/novas/corsas/ford ka's ... just meant it was never my round at the pub! :P .. couldnt lose !
-

-
i did pass plus when i passed knocked off over 200 quid insurance wise all i had to do was dive on motorway and at night
-
Insurance is sh!te-always hate having to pay it!I'd start from the bottom, like me, i've only got tpft,no ncb yet n i'm doing that 10 month accelerator plan.I'm pating ?900 but its worth it!
U can get different plans like limited milege, just depends what u want n how much u can afford to pay.
R there no special deals by any insurers for vws?Like how RS Turbos n the like have Dominion so they get it cheaper if they join the RS owners club-saves a few pounds a know!?If not, they should b!
Dinky :-*

Gti insurance is up for renewal this month..... :-\
Hopefully it wont have gone up...... ::)
-
I have my MK1 insured with H.I.C. I'm 24 and with limited miles of 5000 for fully comp insurance they quoted me ?250. I have 4 years no clams but I used these to insure my MK4 but H.I.C still took them into account. I will post there web address up tomorrow when I am at work. It could be worth you trying these rob, not too sure if they have an age limit though.
