Hi peeps!
Gone and bought another MK 2 Golf today  Was fed up with the constant filling up of the 16v so i bought a daily driver to replace my 1.3 (which also guzzles petrol).
Bought a B reg 1985 1.6 DIESEL  Only 55,000 miles on the clock. Not powerful but will do up 70 mpg! :smug:
Here's a pic

What ya think?

Nice, i am after a 1.9TDI over summer, it's the way to go tbh, i mean petrol is going to silly prices.
Audi, VW, Skoda, are the flavours of choice.

looks mint
good find mate
-
Thanks guys
Got a few plans for it to make it more my cuppa tea. Small bumpers with the chrome trim, clear front indicators (on order), gti bottom front spoiler, G60 steelies (if i can find any :undecided:), coilovers. Anyone ever fitted a sports back box to a diesel?

Looks nice, any rust?, love the colour. how much did it cost you?
your plans are basically the same as i want... Where are you going to get the bumpers from?
-
Cheers Tanks!
Yeah the picture makes it look so perfect. It's in very good nick but has got the odd rust sport here and there and laquer pealing off on the bonnet. Apart from that though it's pukka! Paid £550.
You can get the bumpers from German & Swedish (www.gsfcarparts.com). Part numbers, Front = 81350 and Rear = 81440

I must admit I am tempted by a diesel myself, thinking mark 2 or mark 3 tdi.
But I have two cars to get rid of first, or at least one.
Looks very tidy by the way, an ebay purchase was it?
-
Neaty mate they are blinding cars! They just don't use fuel  370 miles so far and still half a tank left. B@@dy wicked. but it sounds like an old London Taxi
Nah wasn't an ebay one, never used ebay to be honest.
Got it off a friend in the Herts VW Club. I would recommend them but they seem to be a rare sight the Mk 2 diesel. Maybe that's just down her in Herts.
-
ha ha, sounds good then!
I think I might get one but thats just for the sake of getting another car, i would be tempted. But if i get this new job its only round the corner from my house So i can walk to work and save money that way.
Yea they do seem to be quite rare, is yours the turbo diesel?
I was looking at one on ebay that the guy wanted £400 for it and it had done 245,000 miles!! sod that!

Nah just normal Diesel matey, put pulls lovely  Does 80 mph lovely.
-
sounds like a bargain then matey, good work!
get it slammed on G60 steels!

Beware coming down to a diesel after a gti performancewise ! MK2 diesels were basic, mk3 were quicker, but not that pokey unless chipped.
If it's 'diesel performance' your after, go for a mk4. !
-
nah not for performance allthough i do like mark 5 tdi's and the poke they have, i just want good mpg!
