i hate my poxy bloody alternator!!!!
spent most of yesterday rolling around on the floor (alright most of 2 hours) changing the PAS and Drive belt on a mates 8v, then getting on with mine, everything was going well, got the 8v done within the hour, then onto mine, PAS belt off no worries, then the drive belt, went to unscrew the alternator slide bolt and "creak" ......... "SNAP" .......... cue lots of rude words, shaking of fists and general unhappiness, (all whilst my mates mum was behind me doing some gardening)
I was not impressed. So i thought, ok i will completely take it off and work on from there, off comes the supporting arm, the two mounting bolts and with a bit of jiggery pokery out it comes. Sweet. We break out the welder, weld a nut onto the broken bolt and think, "wicked, problem solved" no such f**king luck, turned and off snapped that aswell. GREAT.
Out comes the power drill, blowtorch, WD40, all to no effect. BASTARD!!!!
So now i have to pay for a new alternator and then travel back to where i left it in my mates driveway and refit it all. Absolute cocksausage. I suppose at least it is one less bit to go wrong.

 Fit them yourself:- http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Service-Champions - About 98% of the nuts & bolts under my bonnet were replaced for less than £30 and i've got loads left over :smug:

Lol, well £130 lighter and 2 hours of farting around later in the dark with a lead light and a floodlight for company, and two mates smoking biftas behind (above) me, i have a re-attatched alternator, and tightened all the belts up nicely, so everything seems to be working just nice now.
Car don't half feel a bit iffy now with full PAS, not so sure about chucking it into corners anymore. Need to learn to drive again i think. Oh well, at least it's done now - well until the next thing goes wrong anyhow.

Glad ur sorted darl! bet she puts a smileback on ur face!

Can i just say lewy it is not just old trucks you have to work on remember you have had to fix both of my golfs and that was a mission in itself.
