Anyone had any experience with this REVO thing they offer? How long is the free trial for and how much is it to get it done? Also what sort of power and toruqe we talking after the conversion? What does it do to fuel economy? Cheers.
Is it just a case of driving down there and getting them to do it? How long does it take?
-
I have found Wheelbase garage not to be very good in the past, their servicing skills are lacking to say the least. Not sure about the revo thing, might be worth a try, you can get the software downloaded for 5 hours free of charge.
-
Where abouts are you?
-
I'm in Epsom, work in Guildford, saw the Hersham thing and thought it was perfect. Where do you go to get yours serviced? Are you in the Surrey area? I need my 70k and cambelt doing soon, reccomend anywhere decent? VW in Guildford want nearly ?600 for the pleasure!
-
I do my own service work, and others for cash. I work in Burpham and live in woking. My parents used to use Wheelbase for years as they live round there, until i took over all the work. Check my gallery out ;)
-
I might be able to sort you out for financial inducements ;)
-
what car you go tsunny???, if its a turbo youd be looking at going from 150bhp to about 212, not sure on increase if yours is the 180bhp golf visit revo tecknik page off of link page
-
Could you do a cambelt? How much would you charge for it? Think i'd want the service done from a garage of some sort just for the stamp, I could probably service it myself as I regulary do my wifes fiesta, but thats very easy.
-
If you want a stamp then you gotta go to a garage. If you want to save shed loads of cash then give me a shout. I charge around 20 bar an hour.
-
20 bar an hour sounds good enough to me, how long would a cambelt take to change?
I have the 150 Turbo knightrider, what sort of torque figure would I be looking at? Do you know anyone thats had it done? Would it be too much stress for an engine thats done 66500 miles?
thanks.
-
Probably about 3-4 hours to get the job done. 66k is nothing, get it chipped ;)
-
How much is the timing belt? 20 squid?
-
Have you got a phone no?
-
I'll think about it. When would you want it done?
-
Hi Mate, I'd want it done probably in January sometime? Maybe towards the end of Jan? Whenever tho really, whevever suits you in the next 2 months or so.
-
My daughter is due to be born any time now, so would have to be in the new year. What about a service as well?
-
Thanks mate, good luck with your daughter. Erm, I'd like to get a stamp in the service book for the service, unless you can provide this?
-
No stamp, but i can give detailed paperwork to go with the parts receipts.
-
How much would you charge for a full service (including changing the oil and oil filter, air filter, spark plugs, fuel filter and doing the cam belt)?
-
I'd like to have a look at the car first, i haven't done a mk4 before but all the principles are the same. Full 2 year service would about 80 quid then you pay for parts.
You won't need to change the fuel filter. How old are the spark plugs ? the new platinum type last 40k miles.
Is the brake fluid due for renewal?
-
Not sure about the Brake Fluid, I don't think the spark plugs have ever been changed and it's now on 66k! So how much do you rekon I'm looking at with the following:
- Brake Fluid
- Oil and filter
- Air Filter
- New Plugs
- Cam belt
If you can do the lot for ?250 you have a deal (including parts)
-
I'd have to look into the costs of parts. I enquired about plugs for my mums polo (w reg) and they were about 15 quid each!
-
I think you are looking at 200-250 quid without the cam belt. Depends on prices on parts, i always use genuine vw parts.
-
Cool, if you can give me a price for the work, my guesstimate:
- Brake Fluid (?7)
- Oil and filter (?30 - using Halfords 5/40w)
- Air Filter (?6)
- New Plugs (?60)
- Cam belt (20)
Total for parts: ?123.
-
?80 to do everything but cam belt. I'd like to look at the car before giving you a definate price on that.
-
So about ?300 with the cam belt? I'll be in touch in January then mate and we can arrange a date / time for you to see the car? Is that ok?
Thanks :)
-
Yep, i will do the service for sure :D I want to get Modulator to help me do the cam belt, i want to look at it first to make sure its not a hoist job. I also recommend that you change the cam belt tensioner and change your gearbox oil.
-
excellent, I'll be in touch in the New Year.
-
Cheers geezer :D
