Title: 2.0 16v Conversion
Post by: dubmaster77 on 16 May 2006, 22:28
Hi guys and girls. My mk2 61v has a really rattley timing chain so i figure i should bin it and fit the mk 3 2.0 16v, However I really want to bin the K Jettronic metering head at the same time mainly so i can fit a funky cone filter, Is this possible? and which engine code should i use??? people have so far qouted me ABS, ABU, ABF???? And they should all drop straight in but i wont find out until i have parted with my hard earned!!!!
Any info greatly appreciated.
Cheers!!!

ABF or 9A are the easiest to drop into the engine bay.

The MK3 2.0 16v lump is an ABF, as is the lump fitted to later SEATS. The ABF comes with digifant injection, so you can ditch the k-jet if you like.  If you have a post 90 MK2 then the engine loom will plug directly into the fusebox and you'll be away!  If its an early MK2 then you'll have a bit more trouble.  In this case you might as well stick a 9a lump in and stick with the k-jet injection, theres nothing wrong with K-jet, its arguably better than the digifant systems!

What I cant understand is why you're bothering with a lowly 16v engine, when you already have a 61v in there, surely its much faster
