That looks like the bell housing and would that be one of the bolt holes for the small plate that fits at the bottom? If so, I wouldn't worry. Its held on with 3 bolts so one missing won't hurt.

yea it's the bellhousing, just a thought I could remove the bellhousing off the old 'box and swap......I should think (after being told )

Any chance you could take a picture showing more of the box, with say an arrow pointing to the damaged thread? If its what I think it is then swapping bell housings is more work than its worth.

Actually, if its easier, you could answer this question instead of taking a picture: Was the socket/spanner you used to remove that bolt 10 or 11mm?

Can't remember now it was a few months ago :embarassed:, it's the one at the bottom!

In that case, I'm sure its the middle bolt for the little dust plate at the bottom. The other 2 bolts will hold it fine. I've seen them before now with that plate completely missing so I wouldn't worry.

I concur, the only bolt holes on the bottom of the bellhousing on that side will be fore the little cover plate, all the main gearbox mounting bolts go through holes in the gearbox casing into the block :)
