Post by: HuwMk2 on 15 May 2006, 12:46
My rear wiper works fine with the spray but otherwise when on sticks or goes slowly. Has anyone experiencd this? What's the problem?

Check your linkages in the boot, make sure the wires running to the motor are giving a true 12v as sometimes these wires get cracked, other than that sounds like a replacement motor is needed.

Swap the relay if it sweeps fine when you wash the rear screen.  It's #19 on the fuse board and is same on pretty much all VWs & later SEATs :)

Sorry, I don't understand what is meant by changing the 'relay' sorry. Teacher, no mechanic.

if you look under the drivers side dask there is a fuse box open the lid and there are a load of fuses and square blocks (called relays) these are used to time the wiper on and off when you press the switch as above look for the one with 19 written on it then pull out carefully and replace.

whoops sorry, #19 is the front wiper relay!  The one you need to replace is #72  :embarassed:
