Title: Lumpy engine troubles

Hi peeps.....been using the old girl quite a bit recently and she has developed a little problem

She is bubbling at idle, is taking a little while to idle on all 4 when I start her as well.....she has also starting juddering at about 80.

Any ideas folks?

I had a judder at those speeds for ages and spent all sorts trying to iron it out. It turned out to be running lean in the end and cost nothing to get it rich'd up!  check the vacuum hoses for lumpy idle and the ISV (disconnect the power and see if the engine gets worse)

On an 8v if you disconnect the ISV it will stall ;)
First thing I'd do is fit a new set of vacuum tubing, worth it so its ready for when your 2.0 goes in ;)
Next check the idle switch, you know the one :cool:
Have you put a new blue temp sender from VW onto it yet?
When was the last time you replaced the dizzy cap, rotor arm & sparkies?  Might be worth doing the leads too...
