as above a mate is selling a clean one for a grand, fsh, 123000 sweet engine, i am tempted to sell golf and purchase what you think?
-
KEEP THE GOLF!!!!!!
Sorry, just a bit biased there
-
odd question for a golf gti forum mate!
you'll only get one answer on here, keep the golf!
-
true i realize it is a little biased but comparing a flying brick to a mid engined sports car lol
-
You really think a MR2 is a real sports car?
-
id sell the golf, get the mr2
and then learn how to cut womens hair.
-
that surely is just a rumour that they are a hairdressers car, i can't imagine why, i wouldn't know but from looking at them i would say a midengined 154 bhp car that can look like a cheap Ferrari was more of a sports car than a hot hatch of the 80s but who am i to judge, don't get me wrong i love my golf to bits, but you cannot compare them really, the proof is in the driving and i havent driven one yet so i cannot comment
-
yeah and its rear drive which makes it a proper car and alot more fun than a golf, if it was a mk1 you were gonna sell then maybe id say no but its a mk2, id have any rear drive car with 154 bhp over a golf so i dont know what im sayin to be fair.
-
If its really clean, and you really want it, then get it...but...wouldn't it be better to look for a Turbo'd version? They kick out a lot more power and are a lot more tuneable.
Yeah they are Rear Wheel Drive, but as the engine is in the middle, they are a bit tough to drive, and if you floor it too soon in a corner you'll end up in a field, or worse, a house or shop (could be handy if its a curry's, but then you can't take a HD TV, the boots aren't big enough!!)
I would personally wait and see if there is anything better that you can get, hey, you might be able to afford a Skyline GTR or something, they are getting cheaper all the time and are insanely rapid..
Although, I would try to find a way to keep the golf and have something for a bit of Touge action (for some reason I really like the old Nissan 200SX S13, maybe its because it has 170bhp as standard and they can be picked up for as little as £500 - £1000, and put up to 210bhp for around £300...)
-
i drove my mates mk2 mr2 (170 odd bhp na one) and it was a lot nicer than a mk2 golf! they are really well built and solid and fairly quick very good in corners, obviously i was nowhere near the limit of it though, apparently they let go without much warning
You really think a MR2 is a real sports car?
err yes
-
though your not gonna be getting a very good mr2 if your swapping it for a golf
-
Really depends on what MR2 it is, Mk1's are rot boxes, Mk2's are big and heavy.
Both are more sporty than a Golf but if you have more than 1 friend and are going out for the night then its taxi's all round
-
i have no friends and rarely get out these days, so why do we all drive golfs if these cars are more reliable and more fun and possibly cheaper to run?
-
cause a golfs easier to maintain and parts are more widely available
-
because were all sad, plus us younger ones cant insure stuff like that fast jap cars tend to be higher insurance.
-
have u been drinking mushroom tea??
-
Not to forget only having 2 seats and no boot...
-
mushroom tea lol? not for a while i take it you are referring to me? i don;t think i am having flashbacks anyway  as for insurance i was quite suprised i got quoted 212 quid! third party fire and theft. It was actually cheaper than my golf quote with elephant. I am an old git though at 27.
-
the two tone mk1 mr2's look lovely
