Title: Clutch help!
Post by: Godzilla on 13 May 2006, 14:28
My clutch bites right at the very top, can this be adjusted? Also it feels 'gritty' when i depress/release the clutch...can a bit of WD40 solve this?

try slackening off the retining nut near the geabox on the cable and get someone to depress clutch while you adjust it and grease cable, how old is clutch and cable?

Hi Paul, your clutch cable is the auto adjusting type like mine, you can't adjust it manually. If the clutch feels 'gritty' its normally because the inner cable is frayed and grinding on the outer sheath. You could try replacing the cable but it may not cure the high bite point. The high bite point I'm afraid could be a sign that the clutch friction plate is on its way out, although I would say it could last another 10,000mls as it did on our old Driver.  :undecided:
