Title: 2 years in the waiting and she's nearly ready
Post by: mk1monkey on 13 May 2006, 12:40
hi to everyone

I thought I would join the community as I'm nearly ready to put my money pit......i mean mk1 monster on the road after 2 and a bit years in the making.
I bought her for £200 just over two years and in my wisdom thought I would be driving around in her 6 months later! Just call me young and foolish but after a mk3 golf, alfa 145, alfa 33, bmw e21 and finally a stop gap mk2 golf I have seen the light at the end of the tunnel.
Due to the fact I sold my BMW e21 on ebaY for over £600 more than i paid for it I have been able to plough the extra cash into the project.
So far I have replaced everything you can replace in the engine bay apart from the engine and all I need to do now is to pump the tyres up fit all the bits and bobs I have taken off, fix the fuel filler neck  and stick the interior in. After all that is done my two new front wings will go on and then the dreaded mot.
I hope I can pick your brains as there is a great deal I don't know but I want to learn.
By the way my car is a 1982 1600 with only 80k on the clock and a mint red stripe interior, the colour currently is grey primer, red primer, white and black.

My first question is what colour do you think i should paint her?

I forgot to tell you that I'm from chingford north east london and I work over in havering.

Did I hear that there's a meet somewhere near the A127?

Hi!!

I'm from Hainault, so not too far.

I keep on looking on the site about the halfway house meet, but they seem to have stopped happening from the look of the site, unless anyone else has seen it?

No-Rice is good fun, I went there last wednesday, bit of a trek (its Fleet Services on the M3) but there are so many dubs there its unbelievable
