+ a K&N panel filter in a modified airbox (sucking cold air not hot )
Knowing what difference the 4-branch made to my old 8v I'd be surprised if its shy of 150bhp but i dunno :undecided: anyone???
-
i would say 150ish they do make a difference on 16v engines
-
^^ do they, interesting, might have to get one for mine!
-
 I'll be happy with 150bhp - thats nearly a 50% increase over standard

My 8v one made a huge difference to low end power - it pulled at 1000rpm like it used to at around 2000  and it felt far more willing to rev
-
Just had one fitted to mine not long ago
I have a full stainless 4 into 1 Magnex manifold and matching magnex system. My original system was a total state thanks to the previous owner so I went from numerous blows to this and she pulls like a train !!
THINGS TO NOTE !!!
1) Matching the manifold to another system can be tricky if the pipe diameters and fitting are different (this is often the case !); check this out in detail ;)
2) Check whether the system is 4 into 1 and not 4 into 2 in to 1 as this has a massive difference in the overall results. 4 into 1 gives better top end, where as 4 in to 2 in to 1 will improve the midrange and lack top end over the 4 in to 1.
Hope this helps ;)

But surely if you buy the whole system including the 4 into 1 manifold it should fit fine.
Which sort of places can you order full systems and manifolds from that fit them too?

think its worth an investment fairly soon

Well as far as I know from looking myself there's not a huge selection of people who supply the pair together; but you're right buying them together as a matching pair u'll be fine
The main 2 I looked at where Magnex and Milltek; with the magnex system seeming alot cheaper !!
http://www.edworthys.co.uk/product~prodID~22396.asp
£400 for the pair is a steal !!
I'm guessing they have a massive surplus stock and want to shift them ???
The Milltek manifold alone was over £300 ... and the fit and finish on the Magnex was awesome so out came the reddies ;)

I just re-read this and I think it might have been a bit misleading - I'll be getting nearly 50% increase over the standard 1600cc 8v's 110bhp  - the cr@p i read about 4-branches reckoned 10-15% increase so .... 139bhp + 10-15% = 150bhp

yea i knew what u meant mate ^^^

Are they fairly easy to fit then?

Got a 4 into 1 stainless full system and oh boy does it go like stink! Great response throughout rev range and best of all at low revs when you floor it, it purrs and growls (bit like a scooby) and sounds amazing. Made mine sound like there was more than a 16v under the bonnet, great racing sound and power

Erm ... fitting the manifold is a B*tch as there's not alot of room to manoveur her in even with the inlet manifold removed, but it's not impossible.
I was a lazy funker and paid for it to be done by my local specialist (who happens to be the funking nuts !!); around £100 to have the whole system fitted and a few other odds and sods. That may seem steep but I'm past blood, sweat and tears with my cars if I can afford to get someone else to do it !!

Jack the front of the car up as high as you can (i get mine onto stands then jack it up again with blocks on the jack so i can get the axle stands right up :smug:) drop the anti-roll bar off its mounts (couple of nuts) and it'll go in from underneath without too much trouble. Working out the angle to put it in at is the hardest part so try and remember how you got the old one out and start from there

Sounds like a job for ryoungmk1gti! (my trusty mechanic)
