Here is one on feebay - Item number: 4636417480

As for your comment regarding GLI not as much clout as GTI - I have one of each of these cabs and the GLI (1.8 version) is faster then the 1.8 GTI (due to better manifold and downpipe set-up) and has as much spec as the GTI - less power hood and windows, but these options are only on a few GTI's and not all of them from production...

All comes down to personal view regarding the GLi, GTI, Sportline, etc models of cabs...

For a real cheap cab you really want a 1.5GL but they are really rare these days.... - these where carb version as well.

four to two manifold - which is commonly known on the 82/83 mk1 GTI's have (6 bolts) with twin down pipes. The GLi is the early version of the GTI mk1's engines - later cabs GTI's have the crappie 4 to one with c clips...! I have no idea why they did this as the C clip 4 to 1 manifold leaks from the ring area - known issue with that manifold and C clips seem to give way after 18 months... I've just changed my GTI too the 6 bolt it makes a difference, plus easier to get off when wanting to work on the car.

How is vibration dealt with on the rigid 6 bolt manifold?
Is there some sort of flexi pipe between the downpipes and the exhaust?

Vibration is usually due to the rear engine mount is on its way out. As for the flexi pipe, there isn't one on a mk1, but on the mk2s there are.. I don't find any issues with my cabs on vibration, but then again I have replaced most parts on both.... so they really are like driving new cabs...

the Mrs used to have a 1986 GLI convertible, it was however an import!  not that it made a difference, but it was a nightmare getting parts for it!
power wise it did seem a little more responsive than the current rivage she has.
