Title: Wiring up mk3 clocks to a mk2
Post by: Dizzie on 04 December 2003, 12:42
does anyone know how to do this? There is only 1 plug on the mk3 dials whereas the mk2 had 2 plugs, a vacume and the speedo cable. I know you need a Sensor added to convert the one to the other, but I've got no idea where to go from there.

early, but converting your hazard to the '90 spec place is easy and the least of my worries.

all the bloody wires on the clocks loom from the mk3 are white  >:(

Mate what i would do is sit down at the table with the schematics for a mk2 and a mk3 and a pad of paper. start figuring out what wire does what on each harness and where it needs to connect to a mk3. I may be able to sort some of it as I am pretty good with schematics but I don't have them for the MK3. If someone has a set of mk3 schematics they can email me I'll sit down tonight after the kids go to sleep and see what I can do. :)

I got the wiring diagrams for the mk3 off the net. I think I've worked out what all the pins do on the mk3 clocks and got the indicators, high-beam and lcd lights to work. can't get the gauges to max out though.

I have no idea what to hook them up on the mk2 loom.

http://www.dizzie.biz/misc/golf3_94.pdf (http://www.dizzie.biz/misc/golf3_94.pdf) for the mk3's diagrams.

cheers for any help :)

still working out these wiring diagrams on the clocks mate. Do you by anychance have a set of MK2 schematics like the Mark3 ons you put up? The ones in the Bently manual are sh1te really. doesn't look like it is going to be too hard. May have to use some of the MK3 senders though? I'll work at it some more tonight at work.  ;D

Between the bently manual and these I should be able to figure it out. What site are you finding these at? Sounds like a pretty good site.  ;D I'll let you know something as soon as i get it sorted out.
