Title: KEYED!!
Post by: Tornado on 08 May 2006, 19:25
Some little fecker has keyed my car
Its a red 1990 3dr 8v and the wee sh*t has damaged 3 panels.  Does anyone know of the best way to repair this sort of damage.?
I realise that invisible would involve a respray I just wondered what best DIY repair would be.
Thanks

Sorry to hear that you car has been done. The people we use at work are ok - Chips away, but then it is hit and miss with who you get and the quality of there work. One chap done a pukker repair job on a 80k Vogue, came out spot on.

Hope you can get it sorted, good luck.

Hello
It does not appear to be down to the metal.  I have had good advice from "the hoax" who posts on this forum but this would involve using wet and dry paper to smooth down the new paint applied to the scratch. I am not that confident about using wet &dry and wondered if there was another way to flatten the new paint or was this the best.

I've been using T-Cut to remove some excess paint from a touchup job done on my MK2 years ago. Loads of plain white been sprayed over chips on Alpine White????

I swear by T-Cut for paint polishing now.

u should lay some paint in the scratch tbh.. then use soapy water and 2000 grade wetndry paper, you will then need to use some g4 or 3m compound to bring it back to shine... in all honesty though id save ur money and get it painted 3 panels + paint you could get it done for 100-200 quid.. if u take ou the windows etc urself and get the car ready for paint even cheaper
